What Is the Unlimited Package on a Jeep Wrangler?
- The TJ-bodied Wrangler was produced from 1997 to 2006, with the Unlimited package joining the lineup in 2004. This Wrangler Unlimited on the TJ chassis was essentially just an extended wheelbase version of the regular Wrangler and remained a two-door model. The Unlimited added 15 inches of overall length, with the wheelbase gaining 10 of those inches. Cargo capacity expanded from 47 cubic feet in the short-wheelbase model to 63 cubic feet in the Unlmited.
- The JK-bodied Jeep Wrangler hit showroom floors for the 2007 model year and remained in production as of the 2011 model year. The Unlimited version of this model increases the wheelbase length by 20.6 inches and adds two more doors. Additionally, this iteration of the Wrangler Unlimited adds a larger rear seat and triples the cargo capacity of the two-door JK-bodied Wrangler.
- The Rubicon off-road package that features beefy tires and heavy duty Dana 44 axles was not available on the 2004 Unlimited model, but was offered on the 2005 and 2006 model year TJ Jeeps. As of the 2011 model year, every production year of the JK-bodied Wrangler Unlimited has seen the Rubicon package offered.
