- 1). Label the dividers with your preferred method of organization. There are three main ways to categorize. Coupons can be organized by the aisles in the grocery store. They can be grouped into like items such as canned goods, cold or frozen items, packaged foods, beverages, meats, dairy, snacks and candy. You may also categorize them alphabetically, in which case you will need a pack of dividers labeled A through Z.
- 2). Insert three baseball card pages behind each divider. Store the remaining pages at the back of the notebook for use as you need them.
- 3). Organize your coupons into stacks based off of the method of categorization you've chosen. Kitchen tables provide excellent work spaces. As you categorize, be sure to check dates and set aside any coupons that have expired. Do not discard these, they can be sent to military families overseas. - 4). Insert your coupons into the baseball card pages. If you have duplicate coupons, group them together and insert into one pocket. Otherwise, only insert one coupon per pocket. Move the extra pages at the back of your notebook to sections when you run out of room. Continue inserting the coupons into the pockets until you've organized your coupon stack.
- 5). Insert folders in the front of your notebook. Use one to hold coupons as you shop after pairing with an item. When you check out, they will be in one place for you to hand to the cashier. Use the second folder to hold your grocery list, and the third to hold sales fliers.
- 6). Remove expired coupons every month. Replace them with new ones as they become available.
