How to Alarm Your Walls

    • 1). Strip a 1/2 inch of insulation off the ends of the two wires attached to the vibration sensor using a wire strippers. If the wires terminate in a plug, ignore this step.

    • 2). Remove the paper backing from one side of the vibration sensor. Place the adhesive side of the vibration sensor against the wall, at about the midway point between the floor and ceiling.

    • 3). Press the sensor against the wall to adhere the two together. Leave the sensor alone for 3 to 4 hours for the adhesive to set before continuing.

    • 4). Loosen the two screws at the top end of the wireless transmitter with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver; if there are no screws, ignore this step. Open the battery compartment lid on the back and insert batteries into the battery compartment. Close the lid.

    • 5). Wind the exposed end of the wires from the vibration sensor around the two screws on the transmitter and tighten the screws; if there are no screws on the transmitter, insert the plug at the end of the wires attached to the sensor into the socket on the end of the transmitter instead.

    • 6). Hold the wireless transmitter with the battery compartment lid facing away from you. Place the wireless transmitter on the wall. Run wood screws through the pre-drilled holes in the sides of the transmitter and into the wall using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 7). Go to the wireless control panel. Enter the password to disarm the system. Navigate through the menus until you come to the "Configuration" (or similarly named) menu. Access the menu.

    • 8). Check the checkbox or run the "Wizard" setup -- depending on the make of the control panel -- to add the vibration sensor to those sensors that the control panel monitors. If there is no configuration or "Wizard" setup, synchronize the vibration sensor to the control panel by pressing the "Sync" or similarly named button on both the control panel and the wireless transmitter connected to the sensor.

    • 9). Navigate to the control panel's main menu. Enter the password to arm the system. Any attempt to break the wall will now trigger the alarm.
