- 1). Disconnect the ground (black) cable from the battery by loosening the bolt that connects the cable to the battery and then moving the cable away from the battery terminal.
- 2). Remove the 10mm bolt that holds the oil dipstick in place by loosening it with a 10mm wrench. Remove the oil dipstick from the engine bay.
- 3). Remove any other engine components that are located above the headers in the engine bay. This varies depending on the model of your Mustang. Components that may need to be removed include cold air intake system, O2 sensor pipe, and spark plugs.
- 4). Disconnect the 13mm bolts that connect the stock headers to the engine using a 13mm wrench. There should be six in total.
- 5). Lift the vehicle using a jack and jack stands or a hydraulic lift.
- 6). Disconnect the 13mm bolts that connect the headers to the exhaust. These bolts are located underneath the Mustang. There should be two in total.
- 7). Lift the headers up and out of the engine bay.
- 8). Line up the new headers with the bolt holes on the engine where the stock headers were attached. Connect the new headers using the 13mm bolts that held the stock headers in place using a 13mm wrench.
- 9). Connect the new headers to the exhaust system on the underside of the vehicle using the 13mm bolts that connected the stock headers to the exhaust system.

Replace the oil dipstick and any other engine components that you previously removed. - 11
Lower the Mustang from the lift or jack. Reconnect the ground battery cable. Start the engine and look at the dashboard for the check engine light. If it is illuminated there may be a loose connection or an alignment issue. If so, check all of your connections, loosening and re-connecting if necessary.
