Removing a Stuck Drill From Wood
- 1). Grip the shaft of the exposed drill bit with a pair or pliers or vise grips.
- 2). Turn the drill bit counterclockwise to remove it from the wood.
- 3). Measure the drill bit with a pair of calipers to determine the bore size and use a similar sized bit to complete your project.
- 1). Determine the size of the stuck bit by measuring it with a pair of calipers.
- 2). Select a bit from the bolt extractor set that is slightly smaller than the embedded drill bit.
- 3). Attach the bolt extractor bit to a power drill and drill halfway through the stuck drill bit.
- 4). Fix the bolt extractor to the bolt extractor tool.
- 5). Press the tip of the bolt extractor into the drilled hole and twist the tool to thread the extractor into the bit until the bit comes free of the wood.
