How to Secure Concrete Parking Blocks
- 1). Mark the location of the block by tracing the outline of the block onto the pavement using chalk. Measure inward from each end of the block about 4 inches or so and mark dots to create a guideline for drilling. Outfit an electric drill---you'll need a drill with a high torque rating---and drill a hole through each dot, completely through the block.
- 2). Measure and mark the same measurements you did for the block onto the ground inside the perimeter of the chalk outline. Drill two holes through the pavement through these dots. Slide the parking block into place and match up its holes with the holes in the pavement. Gently hammer each piece of rebar down through the holes and into the pavement.
- 3). Mix a small bag of quick drying cement as directed on the product's packaging if you're choosing to forgo using rebar. Trace a chalk outline around the block, move the block and use a masonry trowel to shovel a small amount of cement inside the perimeter of the chalk line.
- 4). Smooth the cement until it is roughly 1/2-inch thick. Place the parking block over the chalk line and tap down on the block's top; this will level the block into place and squeeze excess cement from underneath. Scrape the excess away with the trowel.
