Clivia Miniata Instructions
- 1). Place the Clivia Miniata in a spot that receives light, but not direct sun.
- 2). Water the plant thoroughly during the growing season. When the soil becomes dry to the touch, apply water until it freely drains from the holes in the bottom of the pot.
- 3). Provide the plant with a resting period to promote flower growth. In late October, place the plant in cool room for 12 to 14 weeks, and withhold water. If you see the plant begin to wilt, add just enough water to moisten the soil. Begin normal watering and care at the end of the rest period.
- 4). Fertilize your plant during the spring and summer. Apply a water soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer once a month, mixed at half the recommended strength. Stop fertilizing in mid-September.
- 5). Cut the flower stalks off at the base, after the blooms have faded, and remove leaves that have withered and turned brown.
- 6). Re-pot the Clivia every 3 to 5 years. After the plant has bloomed, lift it from its pot and place it in a new one with a diameter that is 2 inches larger than the old one. Use a potting mix that drains well.
