What Window Dressing Do I Use to Cover My Bay Window?

Curtains and Draperies

• Since bay windows are typically oversized, they look best with long, flowing draperies or short curtains topped with a large valance. If the bay windows are separated by significant wall space, you can hang drapery panels in between them to draw attention to the windows or use curtains on the windows and decorate the walls with sconces or small framed pictures or paintings. • Some bay windows, especially those in older homes, are accented by classically designed or hand-carved molding. To maintain balance in the room, match small accessories with ceiling-to-floor draperies, and accessorize with larger objects if you're using shorter curtains.
