How to Draw Cartoon Banana Leaves
- 1). Find reference images of banana leaves. The Internet is full of great images to use and magazines will also have some good images. You will notice that banana leaves are a bright green in color and very large.
- 2). Break down the banana leaf into basic shapes. A rectangle will work very well for the main section of the leaf and a triangle will work well for the tip of the leaf. A small rectangle will work for the stem coming off the bottom of the leaf. Remember to keep your pencil lines faint at all times while sketching and avoid erasing too much.
- 3). Add more details such as the veins that run through the leaf. There is no need to go into too much detail as you are simplifying things to make your leaf cartoon-like. Once the sketch is complete, take your fine liner pen and draw over the pencil lines your want to keep. Let the pen ink dry for a couple of moments before you erasing the pencil lines to avoid smudging.
- 4). Add some color to your image with paints, marker pens, colored pencils or crayons. Use your reference images to keep colors accurate. Keep things simple to the end to ensure that cartoon look.
