How to Make a Burnt Smell Go Away in a Microwave

104 22
    • 1). Add enough water to a microwave safe bowl to fill it about halfway.

    • 2). Choose a scent for the cleaning process. For a fresh lemon scented microwave, slice a lemon in half, squeeze the juice into the water, and drop a lemon half into the bowl. For a microwave that smells fresh baked, pour a small amount of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the water.

    • 3). Start the microwave using a high setting. The water needs to boil, so consider your microwave's settings and punch in the required time needed for water to get to a boiling point. The boiling water will release the scent inside the microwave to alleviate the burnt smell.

    • 4). Allow the microwave and bowl to cool and check it after 20 minutes. Remove the cooled bowl of water from the microwave.

    • 5). Grab some paper towels and start wiping the moisture from the inside of the microwave. The burnt smell should have dissipated.
