How to Repair SAPI in XP

    FixRegistry Utility

    • 1). Download the free FixRegistry Utility program from NextUp.com to the desktop (see Resources). NextUp.com designed this program to check for common SAPI installation problems on Windows XP and repair them. Double-click the file once downloaded. Follow the menu commands to install the program on the PC's hard drive. Restart Windows XP once the installation completes.

    • 2). Click "Start," select "All Programs" and launch the Free Windows Registry Repair program.

    • 3). Click the "Check Registry" button on the program's main screen.

    • 4). Select the "Text Edit" tab at the top of the program's main screen.

    • 5). Read the contents of the text edit box that appears on the screen, which will identify the problems that SAPI is having with the file registry. Close the window by clicking the red "X" in its upper right-hand corner.

    • 6). Click the "Fix Registry" button on the program's main screen. Wait for a confirmation window to appear. Click "OK" in the confirmation window to close the window. Quit the program.

    Free Window Registry Repair

    • 1). Download the Free Window Registry Repair program to the desktop (see Resources). Double-click the file once downloaded. Follow the menu commands to install the program on the PC's hard drive. Restart Windows XP once the installation completes.

    • 2). Click "Start," select "All Programs" and launch the Free Windows Registry Repair Program.

    • 3). Click the "Full Scan" icon on the program's main screen. A progress bar at the bottom of the window will document the process of the scan as the bar fills in from left to right.

    • 4). Right-click on any "SAPI" files that display in a column on the right-hand side of the window

    • 5). Click on "Repair" from drop-down menu. A progress bar at the bottom of the window will document the process as the bar fills in from left to right. Quit the program once the bar has completely filled in.

    UniBlue Registry Booster

    • 1). Download the trial version of UniBlue Registry Booster to the desktop (see Resources). Double-click the file once downloaded. Follow the menu commands to install the program on the PC's hard drive. Restart Windows XP once the installation completes.

    • 2). Click "Start," select "All Programs" and launch the UniBlue Registry Booster program.

    • 3). Click the "Registry scan" button at the upper left-hand corner of the program's main screen.

    • 4). Click to place a check mark in all of the boxes in the center column of the program. Click the "Start scan" button at the lower right-hand corner of the program's main screen.

    • 5). Click any "SAPI" files that appear in the center column of the next screen. Click the "Restore" button at the bottom of the window. Click the "Done" button when it appears on a new screen. Quit the program.
