Remember! Junk Silver Prices Are the Same As Coins, Bullion and Bars

Junk silver prices are currently at an all-time high. No, you do not have to trade in coins or silver bullion to reap the benefits of this precious metal boom. You can invest in silver that many people would consider to be junk or scrap. It is rather silly to think that there is all this precious loot hiding away in attics and cluttering our landfills. People practically throw away or ignore good silver!

Silver as an investment can be handled in many ways. One of the most obvious is by turning it into bars. Silver bars vary in composition and by weight, but for the most part, it is 1000 troy ounces of 99.99% pure silver. It is impractical to sell silver in a 100% pure state because it has to go through a process of fortification. Selling silver that has not gone through this process will leave it soft and brittle. Usually silver contains small amounts of another metal, such as copper or zinc. The price of the bar depends on its composition. If there are more of the other metals, then this obviously reduces the price because the silver bar is not as pure. Do not get me wrong though, even a relatively pure silver bar can fetch a lot of money.

Another way silver can be invested in is through silver bullion. Bullion such as gold bullion or silver bullion is the purest form of a particular metal. It is as if you had mined it directly off the ground and treated it to remove all its impurities. It is silver bullion that is transformed into coins, silver bars, and anything else that silver can be turned into. People can buy silver bullion, but it is more difficult to buy in its purest form. Many times silver dealers claim that they are selling silver bullion but in reality it is not a true bullion because real bullion is pure and the product they are selling is contains that little bit of other metals that give it its hardness.

Coins are another common way that silver is handled. Silver coins are one of the general a favorite among investment circles. Because of this reason, it is important to remember that silver coins are valuable both for their precious metal content and for their value as coins. A coin usually has two different prices, and its price as a coin is usually more valuable than its price as a piece of metal so keep this in mind!

Coins, bullion, and bars are three ways in which silver is traded and exchanged in the open market. However, most of the silver in existence is not kept in these forms. Most of it is what many people would consider junk silver.
