    Identification

    • Tenex is in the class of anti-hypertensive medications. It has been used to treat high blood pressure, as well as children with ADHD symptoms. Tenex is a treatment option for children who cannot tolerate stimulant drugs. It may also reduce insomnia and aggression that may be associated with the use of stimulant medicines.

    Side Effects

    • Some of the most common side effects associated with the use of Tenex are depression, slow heart rate, fatigue, dizziness, very high blood pressure, low blood pressure, headache, dry mouth, insomnia, constipation, vomiting and diarrhea.

    Serious Side Effects

    • Tenex may also cause serious side effects, such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, and wheezing, which may be a sign of an allergic reaction that can be life-threatening. It may also cause blood pressure-related symptoms such as fainting, flushing of the face and severe headache.

    Drug Interactions

    • Do not take Tenex with medications for colds and allergies, appetite control or sinus problems, as this may increase your blood pressure. Tenex will also intensify the effects of alcohol and other depressants. Be sure to tell your doctor you are taking Tenex before having any kind of surgery.

    Warning

    • Contact your doctor or your child's doctor if any serious or bothersome side effects occur with the use of Tenex. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed, and do not take a double dose of this medicine if you miss one.
