The best magazine
WordPress Appearance
Themes are great because they help give you the look and feel you are going for without having to spend the time learning PHP, HTML, and CSS in depth.
You can instead focus on generating great content that will ultimately be what drives people to your site.
Remember, WordPress is open source, so that allows anybody the ability to create or modify a theme.
I suggest first looking through the free themes to see if one suits your fancy.
There are thousands available.
Just do a Google search for "best free WordPress themes" and you will get many results that show the various themes typically with links to the website where you can download the theme.
If you do not like any of the available free themes or want better support, my two favorite options for premium themes are Revolution by StudioPress and Thesis by DIYThemes.
Once you see these themes you understand why they are not free.
These themes make up for where the free themes typically lack.
They are easy to use, look great, and are optimized for search engines straight out of the box.
The money spent for a premium theme is usually earned back in the amount of configuration time you save.
Plus, there is a great community of support for each of these themes, so if you are having issues someone is typically available to assist.
Do not settle with the boring default.
Explore around by doing Google (or your favorite search engine), look at the themes and see what fits your site best for the type of content you would like to put out for the masses.
You will be very pleased you did.
