How Do You Know If Your Storage Facility Is Secure?
Lighting
It is important for a service to be well lit, both inside and outside. Trespassers and criminals are not as likely to break in a good facility if there are a lot of lights. They will be afraid someone will seem them and catch them.
On-site Guards
Nothing makes a storage more secure than on-site guards. An on-site guard is paid to watch over the these facility and make sure that intruders do not try to come in. Most criminals will not even go into a storage service if they know there are guards watching it.
Cameras
If the service is secure, there should be video cameras everywhere. These cameras should be top of the line and able to record videos 24 hours a day. If a thief breaks into a locker, the manager can just look back at the video and see if he can identify the trespasser.
Coded Gate
Do not rent a unit from a storage that does not have a coded gate. If there is no coded gate, anyone can walk into the facility and start robbing the lockers. If there is a coded gate, only customers and employees will be able to enter the facility.
Alarms
A secure service facility should put alarms on all of the lockers. If there are alarms on each locker, the managers will be able to tell when each of them has been opened. If a thief or criminal tries to get into a locker, the alarm will go off.
If the storage you look at has all of these features, it is likely very secure. You will not have to worry about your belongings getting stolen when the facility is this secure. If you have additional questions about the security measures, be sure to ask the manager. If you feel like this is not secure enough, do not hesitate to go to a different one. Even if takes extra time, it is important to find a unit that is secure so that your possessions stay safe.
