uPVC Door Locks - Are You Secure?
The front face of the lock should be flush with the handle face, or should protrude no more than 4mm.
If it protrudes more than this past the face of the handle plate, it can very easily be bypassed, thereby increasing your risk of burglary.
For security reasons, I will not divulge the exact methods that are used here.
Suffice to say the risk is significant and this risk can very easily be eradicated.
Changing the locks is relatively inexpensive.
We at 0845MB Locks can visit and install locks that fit correctly, flush with the handle face, making the door and therefore the security of your home, much more secure.
A slightly more expensive but much more secure option is to have 'Snapsafe' locks fitted.
These will keep the door secure after attack and also still allow the original key to be used post attack.
They are fitted in exactly the same way as standard Euro profile locks.
The advice provided in this article applies to all uPVC doors, front and back and also to patio doors where the Euro profile lock is fitted.
Don't take the chance.
Give yourself reassurance and peace of mind by taking five minutes to check all of the Euro profile locks securing your home and if you are in any doubt, contact your local locksmith for advice.
They will be only too happy to help.
