The Symptoms Of A Manic Episode
Everyone is affected differently from it but the general symptoms stay the same.
If your wondering whether or not your swinging into a manic episode you may want to keep an eye out for the following changes in yourself, or ask someone close to you if they've noticed any of these changes (often times those closest to us will notice it well before we do.
) Your thoughts will race.
No matter how hard you try to focus you'll find your mind wondering and jumping from one thing to another, and another, and another.
Like a non-stop energizer bunny.
Your mind just keeps going and going and going! Your speech will quicken.
If you ever had problems articulating your words and spitting them out fast enough, it simply gets worse.
Not matter how hard you try your words just won't keep up with your thoughts so you end up with fast paced, pressured speech instead.
Irritability.
Major irritability.
If little things used to annoy and piss you off, everything will now.
Everything around you seems to be trying to get under your skin to bug the heck out of you.
Lack of ability to sleep or even a need for it.
Ever had too much caffeine and feel like you'd never be able to fall asleep? With mania it's worse.
Not only can you not fall asleep, you'll not be able to stay asleep as your body takes on a mind of it's own.
The racing thoughts will keep your eyes wide open.
The excessive energy will make you unable to fall asleep no matter how hard you try.
Easily distracted.
Again with the focus issue.
As if a racing mind weren't enough every little thing will take you off on a tangent till your so far from the start you no longer remember how you got there or what you were planning to begin with.
Speaking of plans.
You'll be making plenty of them.
Lot of goal directed behaviours.
Big plans (sometimes beyond reality big) that you will plan out every step of execution for.
And that's just a small sample of the symptoms of mania.
You may also see an increase in your sex drive, a move to behaviours unlike you, an overwhelming change in yourself to the point it seems like you're a completely different person and more.
