How to Hide a Wall Safe

    • 1). Hide the safe behind a clothes rack in the laundry room. Make sure the safe can withstand humidity and water damage. Thieves may be less likely to look in the laundry room behind clothes that are hanging. You can also purchase a breaker box door panel to mount over the safe. This will also hide the wall safe if you do not have clothes hanging to hide the safe. A breaker box panel can be purchased at any local hardware store.

    • 2). Hide the safe on the wall in the kids' room. Place a poster or picture of their favorite television show or character over it. When thieves look for a safe, they won't usually think about its being in a child's bedroom.

    • 3). Place large furniture in front of the safe to conceal it, like a dresser or chest of drawers. A burglar is more likely to look under your mattress or in a drawer than behind large furniture. Wall safes can also be hidden behind library book cases or book shelves.

    • 4). Purchase an electrical outlet wall safe. You mount the safe the same way you would a real outlet. The face plate for the wall safe looks just like the face plate of an electrical outlet. A burglar is not likely to take the time to check the outlets. Electrical outlet wall safes can be purchased at local hardware stores and on-line home security retailers.
