How to Store Cleaning Supplies
- 1). Decide on one location where you will keep all of your cleaning supplies. This will make it easy to find the cleaning supplies when you need them. If you have children or pets, choose a location that is either high off the ground or lockable, such as a cabinet or top shelf in your closet. Naturally, the space you choose should be away from all foods and dishes.
- 2). Ensure that the location you have chosen remains cool, even during hot times of the year. Many cleaning agents are combustible and will expire more quickly if placed in hot areas (such as near a furnace, vent, etc.).
- 3). Keep the original labels on all of your cleaning supplies and refrain from mixing any agents together. This will keep you from spraying the wrong type of cleaner on a surface and will also help you stay more organized.
- 4). Organize all of your cleaning supplies. You can purchase individual crates for each type of cleaner, or label your shelf as necessary. For example, keep window and glass cleaners together, bathroom cleaners together, and wood cleaners together.
- 5). Rinse your cleaning supplies after you use them. It is common for residue to remain on your bottles (or drip from the nozzle) and it's best to wash the bottle free of that residue. Simply wipe them down with a wet towel or cloth or run them under the faucet and gently dry the bottles off.
- 6). Check the labels of your cleaning supplies and throw away any that are past their expiration date. Cleaning will be more effective if your supplies are fresh.
