Road To 2015 FIS World Ski Championship
The tradition of alpine ski racing has been interwoven throughout Vail and Beaver Creek’s history. Since 1983, the Vail Valley has played host to numerous annual World Cup races, including the 1994 and 1997 World Cup Finals.
The 1989 and 1999 World Alpine Ski Championships firmly established the Vail Valley as “the” ski racing capital of North America and paved the way for Vail and Beaver Creek’s successful bid to host the 2015 FIS World Ski Championships.
Top 10 Men's World Cup Downhill Ski Racers - 2015 race 6
Kjetil Jansrud of Norway finished first in the sixth Downhill race of the 2015 FIS World Cup season - the famed Hahnenkamm - at Kitbuehel, Austria and piled on more points to his lead in the 2015 Downhill rankings. Dominik Paris of Italy, finished second in the Hahnenkamm and remains in second place in the rankings with France's Guillerimo Fayed coming off a third place in the Hahnenkamm and moving into third place in the standings. No change at top of the GS standings between Austria's Marcel Hirscher in first place, Ted Ligety of the USA in second and Alexis Pinturalt of France also right in the mix in third place. However, Hirscher has increased his lead over Ligety to 148 points.More »
