Men who lose someone close to them often times grieve differently than women.
While a woman will cry and lean on friends and family to help her through the loss, a man may withdraw and show very little emotion.
He may feel he needs to be strong and pull it together, while putting his grief aside.
This is not a time to pull away from him and write him off as not needing any help.
Now is the time to let him know that he does have friends and family that will come around him and help him get through this.

Men sometimes feel the need to release their grief through action and may find comfort in finishing a project or working on a hobby.
It may seem as if they are moving on quickly, but men need an outlet and sometimes working physically hard can be that channel.
They are different then women in their grief process but they are still very sensitive and have deep emotions that need to be tended.
When choosing a gift, one that will serve as a memorial to the person he lost would be appropriate.
A plaque, an engraved stone, wall hanging or frame with verses and a picture are wonderful ways to express your sympathy and also to give him something that will help him through the grieving process.
Gift baskets with food are always a good choice as is disposable products.
These things will help keep things easy and convenient over the next few weeks.
As with many people, sympathy gifts of service will be welcomed.
Cleaning a house, looking after children, cooking meals for the freezer are all ways to bless this family.
You also could run errands or be willing to answer phones, screen visitors, and take care of questions.
When thinking of giving gifts consider the needs of the person.
Put yourself in their shoes.
Consider what you would want.
Always be willing to listen, to grieve, and to help carry the load.
Your gift of friendship, and time will be a welcomed gesture.
