Eduardo Lomé and Hugo Latorre Are The Crazy Gaucho’S!
Taking a traditional €Boleadoras€, which is made of two separate ropes with a hard plastic ball at the end, originally made of stone. The Gaucho swings the €bolo€ following the intricate and unique rhythm of the €Bombo Drum€, played by the partner in the performance. While the Bolo is being swung, the Gaucho usually dances the €Zapateo€, Which is a traditional tap-dance developed by cowboys in South America. In the old days, the descendants of the Spanish Conquistadores would practice this dance as a competition with others, one man would brush his foot against the floor adding an intricate pose with a salute, the next man would copy the movement and add a move of his own, the competition would continue until one man could no longer copy the other.
But in the original €Zapateo€ dance including bolo's, the Gaucho controls the beat and tempo of the €Bombo Drum€ using the clapping of his hands, tapping of his feet and swinging of the Bolo's. This controls any variations and accentuations to the beat including floor stomping. This was originally how Indians and old Gauchos would entertain themselves around the campfire during hunting trips, as the €Boleadoras€ was originally developed to hunt animals.
Back in modern times, the Los Latin Cowboys have taken this very serious and very old form of pass-time and have added a modern flair to help make this €Hunters Dance€ unforgettable. Originally part of the Award winning and influential €Splash€ variety show created in 1985, the Gauchos would spend nearly 8 years as part of the lineup. During the late 80's and early 90's Splash was one of the top shows around, as audiences around the world were introduced the Argentinean duo's unique blend of comedy and tradition. Splash may be gone now, but you can still experience what's guaranteed to be unlike any drumming act you have likely ever experienced, be prepared as the Gaucho's take things to the next level by including the audience as part of the show! Be ready, they might just call you up, or even call you out! But all in good fun as this innocent pair is as charming as can be, and will be sure to be a hit for the entire family.
