How to Get Rid of Bugs in Cabinets

Weevils

• 1). Remove the food from the cabinet and look inside all the packages for infestation.
  
  
• 2). Vacuum the shelves, especially in the corners, to get rid of hard-to-see pests. Wrap the vacuum cleaner's bag in another bag and throw it out immediately to prevent bugs from escaping and returning to the house.
  
  
• 3). Scrub the shelves really well with sudsy, hot water. Let them dry thoroughly.
  
  
• 4). Spray the pantry area with a kitchen-safe insecticide and close the cabinet door for at least four hours.
  
  

Cockroaches

• 1). Throw away old food products in boxes or paper packaging.
  
  
• 2). Mix together roach bait from equal parts of sugar and boric acid.
  
  
• 3). Sprinkle in corners and cracks where you have seen roaches, or pour some into jar lids to put under the cabinet.
  
  

Ants

• 1). Clean out the area with soap and water to get rid of the scent trail that the ants were following.
  
  
• 2). Mix one part boric acid powder to 20 parts sugar, and sprinkle on heavy ant-traffic areas leading in and out of cabinets.
  
  
• 3). Sweep up the bait and throw it away after ants are no longer visible.
  
  
• 4). Clean the cabinet thoroughly before replacing food in it.
