There are many different designs of collars and leads made of different types of material for you to choose from.
Here are some choices for you to consider for your type of dog breed, also not forgetting a current name tag on the collar at all times.

Many people make this choice of collar primarily for puppy training because they are not as strong as other types of collars.

Nylon collars come in a wide variety of colors to choose from and are available in single-ply or double-ply thickness.
These types of collars are extremely strong and have a long life because of the nylon material they are made from.
If choosing for a large breed of the dog then the wider and thicker width is ideal.
Leather collars again are very strong and come in various colors, lasting you many years.
The leather collar always seems to retain the good looks improving with age, although for water loving dog the leather can stay wet a lot longer than other materials.
When choosing what type of hardware to purchase again there is many different styles and materials.
One choice that is very popular is solid brass which is very strong and will still retain its gold finish, those who prefer a silver color should look at nickel plated steel or brass plated.
Leads that have a swivel snap clasp are great because they turn with the pet avoiding any tangling.
The collars are the traditional buckle with a D-ring in front, this allows the hardware to hang under the neck, or for a quick attachment in the back choose the O-ring.
