How Can You Tell If You Are Worrying Too Much?

103 3
My earlier article suggested that worry was like an alarm system that alerts you to deal with a specific problem, and hence is a good thing.
However, if you worry unnecessarily or worry too much, then this will affect you in a negative manner.
There are various signals that indicate when you are worrying too much.
Most of us are aware that worry can change our physical appearance and have an effect on our health.
In fact, the term worried sick has been coined because we know about the relationship between worry and illness.
Studies have also shown that people who worry about an operation take longer to recover afterwards than those who don't.
If you worry too much, then generally you are indecisive, and worry leads to more worry, and simple everyday problems are prolonged.
This can lead to insomnia, as you go to bed with things on your mind, which stop you relaxing and getting a good night's sleep.
It can also lead to high blood pressure as stressful situations are prolonged.
High blood pressure can lead to heart problems, and so on.
As stated before.
Worrying when you are under stress is not a bad thing, but if the worrying is not getting you anywhere and thoughts are keeping you awake at night.
Then you need to do something.
You need to start to analyse your thoughts and see what they are trying to tell you and then deal with the outstanding problems.
Once a problem is analysed, defined and dealt with, and a decision made then it is no longer a worry.
So generally if you are having trouble sleeping, and your health has deteriorated then it could be that you are worrying excessively about your current situation.
Future articles will look at how to deal with problems in order to reduce worrying.
