Twitter - Can You Find Love on Twitter?

103 44
What once began as a purely narcissistic effort to get my comments read on air by CNN's hottie newscaster Don Lemon has now become a sweet obsession.
I've become a Twitter regular.
Throughout the day I check in to see what people are doing, thinking, blogging, reading, and, yes, eating.
Around Noon I'm not complete without an update on what a certain self-described "digital hero" is having for lunch.
My favorite of his tweets: "getting back on my workout grind hasn't disturbed the sexy of my lunch.
the aroma of ox tail soup is still dancing in the wind.
" Classic.
But could I actually find the love of my life on Twitter? I know it sounds crazy, but if you really think about it perhaps the idea is not really that far-fetched.
Robert Balousek, one of the collaborators on the Swagalicio.
us blog, has already launched a service called Twintro.
If you follow Twintro on Twitter, you'll get updates from a different "fascinating, amusing, and thought-provoking" Twitter user every day.
Also, a website is in production for Twitterpated, a service billed as a dating social network that will pose the question "who are you looking for?" instead "what are you are doing?".
Ok, so maybe that's a long way from the supposedly scientifically-matched chemistry of the most popular online dating sites, but still you must admit the potential.
For example, just take a look at some of my own predominantly male Twitter followings.
Near the top of my list is an exceptional west coast dreamboat.
His avatar reveals him as a Mediterranean god-flawless olive skin, dark wavy hair, and a perfect smile; he would no doubt be the object of my undying affections were he not madly committed to his equally handsome live-in partner and their pet cockatoos.
Then there's the activist musician.
We banter back and forth about all the latest news and politics (on the DM of course so we don't disturb our fellow twitterers).
He gets me.
He makes me laugh.
I'd probably ask him to meet me for drinks if only he was old enough.
Ah, well.
Hope is still alive.
After all, it's Twitter, where one light tap of the update button could send you off on a chance cyber-encounter with the love of your life.
BTW...
I'd like to dedicate this article to my fav tweet.
He knows who he is *wink*.
