Youth & Teens: Bible Arts & Crafts for Teens
- Have students bring in boxes of toothpicks and ask them to construct as tall of a tower as they can by gluing them together. In order to stick, it is essential that all toothpicks make contact with one another. The best strategy is to make several pyramids of three toothpicks that are one toothpick's length across, then continue building pyramids on top of each other until the tower reaches its natural end. After their towers are built, students can paint them or glue little builders onto the sides for effect.
- Give students enough cloth to make a tunic. Have them cut a head hole out of the middle of the cloth then let give them different colors of fabric pencil, marker or even glue and felt and let them go wild with imagination, designing and coloring to create their own coats of many colors. This could also work as a tie-dye project, which is sure to be a hit among teenagers.
- Let students pick from a wide variety of materials to create bookmarks featuring their favorite Biblical verse or verses. Besides letting students express their personal connections to the Bible, Biblical bookmarks will also give them a fresh burst of inspiration each time they open their books.
- Have students make a diorama of a Biblical scene using materials found around the house. For example, if the student wants to recreate Jacob meeting Rachel by the well, he could cover the bottom of the diorama with dirt, cut a plastic cup to add a small pool of water in the middle, find or make little camels, make Jacob and Rachel out of blocks and decorate the rest of the scene with grasses and small rocks.
