An infertile man may feel depressed and have a lowered self-esteem which could lead to disrupted social interactions including relationship with partner.
However, men should know that inadequate sperm production and infertility can be treated and having a child is possible.
But before proceeding with the treatment, here are some reasons for inadequate sperm and infertility in males.
1.
Sperm must have been blocked.
The sperm is produced by the testes and is released during ejaculation through the male reproductive organ called vas deferens.
The released sperm would then reach the female egg cell within the uterus which results to fertilization and implantation.
If this normal process is not attained, the sperm must've been blocked.
Some causes of the blockage of sperm cells would include underlying medical conditions associated with the male reproductive system.
Conditions would include infection, inflammation or injury, physical malformations and even vasectomy.

Erectile Dysfunction.
This dysfunction is the inability of a male to maintain a firm erection during a sexual intercourse.
This causes problems because erection is important to ensure that enough sperm is ejected to make fertilization possible.
A lot of factors may contribute to this dysfunction and that include hormonal imbalances, disease that comes with aging such as high blood pressure and heart diseases.
Increased serum alcohol levels and paralysis can also contribute to erectile dysfunction.

Presence of infections.
Decreased sperm count as well as infertility may be a result of infection.
Males who have acquired infection during their childhood or even at present may have increased risks for infertility.

Not producing sperm.
A condition called Azoospermia may be present in males who are infertile.
This is a condition wherein a male is not producing mature sperms at all.
The main contributing cause for Azoospermia is temperature because sperm cell production is greatly affected by temperature.
Elevation in temperature may deplete sperm count and kill the mature sperm cells; thus, causing Azoospermia.

Problems in genetic make-up and hormonal imbalances.
Obviously, hormonal imbalances would definitely cause infertility because these hormones control the reproductive function.
When hormone levels change, function will be affected.
Genetic composition also plays an important role in the reproductive system function.
Examples of such conditions would include hypothyroidism, hyper secretion of the hormone prolactin, and some pituitary gland disorders.

Other associated conditions.
Aside from the conditions above, there may also be other associated conditions that contribute to inadequate sperm and infertility in males.
These would include conditions involving drastic changes in the temperature and exposure to extremes of temperature.
Fever for a long time can also be one contributory factor.
Biological related conditions such as abnormal reproductive organs, presence of hernia, missing organs or undeveloped organs, and blockage in the ejaculation ducts may also contribute to infertility in males.
All of the mentioned conditions could be the possible reasons for inadequate sperm count and infertility in males.
