Guitar Techniques

103 1
There are many ways to sound like an amazing guitar player.
Anybody can learn and master some basic techniques to improve their sound.
  • Guitar Technique 1: One great guitar technique is bending.
To do this you simply press one of you fingers down on a string and push it up towards you.
Pick the string and wave it around to alter the sound it gives off.
Do not bend it too much because it may snap.
  • Guitar Technique 2: Hammer-ons are a great way to be fast when you play.
Pros do this a lot in solos to hit another note or two without picking the string.
Pluck a string and use your fingers to hit that string on any fret.
It is simple and you can also move it up and down the fretboard like how Eddie van Halen plays.
It takes a lot of practice but you will get it.
  • Guitar Technique 3: Slides are another excellent guitar technique.
What you do is simply press your finger down on a string and pick that same string.
Then move your finger up a couple of frets to change the pitch.
It is another great way to add volume to your sound and be faster.
Many blues players used glass tubes called sliders to make it sound cleaner.
A great example is Duane Allman.
  • Guitar Technique 4: Another great guitar technique is double notes.
This adds more fluidity to your sound.
Hendrix used this technique a lot.
It is probably the easiest guitar technique.
Just hit two strings at the same time.
You can do this by using two fingers to pluck two different strings.
By doing this correctly it will make you sound better.
By implementing the guitar techniques above you will be well on your way to being a guitar expert.
Just about all the big guitar players used these techniques in their playing especially when soloing.
Use them as your advantage.
