Teaching Babies to Read - How to Get the Job Done Quickly and Easily
It is actually a simple process that can be done in just seconds a day.
Parents can begin teaching their babies to read beginning as early as 3 months of age.
One of the fastest ways to teach babies to read is to use flash cards.
Parents can make their own flash cards, or they can purchase some ready-made cards.
Some of the cards that are available have color pictures of the words being taught.
These are really nice to have because they teach small babies what the words they are reading mean.
When parents make their own cards, it is time consuming to find pictures.
Once you have your flash cards ready, you just need to choose a location to show your cards.
One of the most frequented places is the changing station.
Parents can keep the cards right there by the changing station and after a diaper change quickly flash 5 -10 cards.
This takes between 30 seconds and a minute.
Parents should aim to show the cards up but not more than 3 times per day.
Babies need to see a word between 15 and 20 times to master the word.
If you show the cards three times a day for 5 days, you can just change the cards out every week.
Having a specific day that you will rotate your materials makes it easy to keep track of.
For example, introduce new materials each Sunday.
Then each week, you just swap the cards out and save the words you have already taught for review and games.
You can use many other methods to teach babies to read, but it is best to establish your routine in one area before you incorporate a new method.
