How to Organize Old Pictures
- 1). Gather all of the photos that you need to get organized. Discard any prints that you don't like.
- 2). Write on the back of the prints if there is special identifying information about that picture that you want to remember, such as names, dates or location.
- 3). Sort the prints that you choose to save into categories that make sense to you. You can sort your photos chronologically, by family member or by type of event.
- 4). Decide whether you will use photo boxes or photo albums to store your prints, and purchase as many as you need to hold your collection. You may want to consider purchasing more than what you will need so that you will have some to grow into.
- 5). Place your prints into your preferred storage system. If you are using photo boxes, place a label on the divider tab in front of each group of prints so that you know what prints are behind that tab. If you are using a photo album, write the identifying information on an index card and slip the index card into the sleeve immediately before the prints it will identify.
- 6). Place any negatives in an envelope and place the envelope in the back of the box or album.
- 7). Place your photo boxes or albums neatly onto a shelf or whatever space you have designated to store your photos.
