Premature Ejaculation - Causes And Treatments

103 6
Premature ejaculation is the most commonly reported sexual complaint of men and couples.
The highest number of complaints is among teenage, young adult, and sexually inexperienced males.
Increased risk is associated with sexual inexperience and lack of knowledge of normal male sexual responses.
Many men occasionally ejaculate sooner during sexual intercourse than they or their partner would like.
As long as it happens infrequently, it's probably not cause for concern.
However, if you regularly ejaculate sooner than you and your partner wish - such as before intercourse begins or shortly afterward - you may have a condition known as premature ejaculation.
Many experts believe that premature ejaculation almost always results from anxiety or other psychological causes.
Others think that unusually sensitive penile skin may be a cause.
Having intercourse less frequently than desired may worsen the problem by making the man even more sensitive.
Premature ejaculation is rarely caused by a disease, although inflammation of the prostate gland or a nervous system disorder can cause the condition.
This problem is very rarely a physical problem.
Guilt, anxiety, fear, excitement, and other emotions can contribute.
Infrequent sex also affects control.
Even a man with normally good control may reach orgasm quickly after a long period of time without sex.
Early ejaculation is also common the first few times a man has sex with a new partner.
Men with good ejaculatory control can enjoy sustained levels of sexual arousal before choosing to ejaculate.
A man without this control tends to go from zero excitement to orgasm without leveling off.
Most cases of premature ejaculation do not have a clear cause.
With sexual experience and age, men often learn to delay orgasm.
Premature ejaculation may occur with a new partner, only in certain sexual situations, or if it has been a long time since the last ejaculation.
Psychological factors such as anxiety, guilt, or depression can cause premature ejaculation.
In some cases, premature ejaculation may be related to an underlying medical cause such as hormonal problems, injury, or a side effect of certain medicines.
The primary form of premature ejaculation typically occurs in a man who begins having intercourse for the first time and has a problem with ejaculating before he desires it.
Generally, these are younger men with strong libido who experience significant sexual tension prior to intercourse.
Treatment exists, both with drugs and psychotherapy.
The first line of treatment is reorientation and reeducation of the man or couple for a normal sexual function.
Situations in which the shorter or unsatisfactory ejaculation time is considered to be normal are elucidated (common in the young, sex with new partners, or following a long abstinence).
When premature ejaculation becomes steady, that is, occurs in more than half of sexual meetings, a more specific treatment is made necessary.
