- For your new home, there are plenty of personal care items that will be needed right away in your bathroom. Toilet paper is a necessity. Shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant and soap are other items that every bathroom needs, regardless of who is using it. Shaving creams and razors are also important supplies. Depending on your personal care routine, you may need conditioner, dental floss, mouthwash, bubble bath, shower gel and sponge, facial cleanser, make-up, other hair products and lotions.
- Most bathrooms contain a medicine cabinet where first aid supplies and medications are kept. Besides whatever daily medication you take, there are a few other medications that are useful to keep on hand. Cold medication, cough drops, aspirin, anti-diarrhea and antacids are good stock supply items. Vitamins, band-aids and antibacterial ointment can also be useful. For some people, eye drops or contact lens supplies are needed. Q-tips and cotton balls are also good first aid items to have on hand.
- Bath and hand towels are essential for the bathroom. Wash clothes should also be included. Shower curtain and rings are needed unless there is a shower door. Every bathroom needs a plunger and toilet brush. Some bathrooms require a shower caddy to store all your personal care items in the shower. The bathroom should have a trash can. Bathroom cleaning supplies, such as mildew cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner, are also needed.
- To give your bathroom a more homey feel, include items such as a soap dish, toothbrush holder and candle. Add a bath mat and decorative art on the wall. Hang up your robe and a mirror on the back of the door. Add a magazine rack or basket stocked with magazines. Bring out your hair dryer, curling iron or straightener. If your bathroom has a window, add a curtain or blinds these are not already present.
