The Best Way to Set a Mouse Trap
- 1). Wait until evening to set the trap. Nighttime is the best time to catch mice, because they are most active when it is dark and quiet.
- 2). Bait the trap with a dab of peanut butter or a ½-inch cube of cheese. Peanut butter may work better because it sticks to the trap and has a very potent aroma that entices hungry mice. If you use cheese, select a strong-smelling cheese and ensure that the cheese cube is firmly attached to the trap so the mouse will not be able to snatch it away.
- 3). Carefully pull back the lever and hook it so the trap is rigged and ready to snap.
- 4). Locate a secluded place where the mouse visits often (where you've seen signs like chewed packages or mouse droppings). Remove any food from this location and gently place the trap here.
- 5). Turn off the lights and leave the room. Your trap is set. Wait until morning to check if the mouse is caught.
