How the Tenerife Weather Is Perfect for Three Very Different Reasons
Surfing
When you do your research on the web Tenerife shows you that it has a great surfing heritage. It's good to note that the Canary Islands are characterised by the Alisios winds which come from the north. This means that the islands to the east are deserts as these winds hit them with full force and the western islands Tenerife for example has lush green landscapes as the mountains protect the island. These winds however make for great surfing. The Atlantic is known to be cold but in the summer around Tenerife temperatures rise to a 22degC.
Some of the hot surfing spots in Tenerife are: El Medano, Punta Blanca, La Izquierda, La Fitenia, La Machacona, Puerto De La Cruz - Playa Jardn, Los Patos - La Orrotava, Las Gaviotas, El Cabezo - El Bunker and El Lobo.
Wines
The wines from the Canary Islands were once some of the most famous - even mentioned in some Shakespeare plays. If you have done your research on the web Tenerife offers the best wine of the Canary Islands and you can visit the bodegas to see the process. What makes these wines so special is the mix of sun, sea air, protection from mountains, rich volcanic soil and mild trade winds. While visiting Tenerife you will see that vines are part of the landscape and it isn't surprising that wine is the most productive of all the islands agriculture.
Whale and Dolphin Watching
The Tenerife weather allows for a plethora of outdoor activities, it has four of the thirteen Spanish national parks so it's a naturalist dream. Because these areas are protected it means pollution is low so it's perfect to do the privileged trip of seeing whales and dolphins in their natural habitats. The best places to go whale watching is between Tenerife and La Gomera where there are known to be 25 of the 78 species of sea mammals living there.
