How to Fasten Lights on a Christmas Tree
- 1). Gently lay the lights' wire on the strong branches. Depending on the type of Christmas tree you have set up in your house, the branches may be sturdy enough to hold up the lights without any help. Noble Firs are said to have some of the strongest branches. If you are afraid of the lights slipping off the branches, try looping the wire around a single branch every 9 to 12 inches.
- 2). Use dedicated Christmas tree light clips. Christmas tree light clips hold the Christmas lights' wire close to the branches, clipping around the branches. These clips are reusable year after year and can easily and quickly slip onto the tree branches.
- 3). Use twist ties. There's a good chance you have a stack of twist ties lying in a kitchen drawer, left over from a box of plastic sandwiches. Put these twist ties to good use by using them to fasten your Christmas lights to the tree branches. Simply loop the twist tie around the wire and branch, twist the ends together until the wire is secure. For ease of removal, don't twist the ties too tight, allowing you to simply slide the twist tie off when it comes time to take things down. Otherwise, you'll have to cut each tie off. Zip ties also will work.
