Homemade Freezer Jam

    • 1). Use ripe and fresh fruit. Avoid fruit that is under or over-ripe because it will affect the quality of the jam. Fruits that work well for jams include but are not limited to strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.

    • 2). Rinse the fruit under cool running water. Remove any stems and large seeds from the fruit.

    • 3). Place the fruit into a large mixing bowl and crush it with a potato masher. You can also place the fruit into a food processor to puree it.

    • 4). Combine 2 cups of fruit with 4 cups of sugar in a bowl. Stir the ingredients to combine them together.

    • 5). Add one package of dry pectin to 3/4 cup of water in a sauce pan. Bring the pectin to a boil for one minute.

    • 6). Add the boiling water to the crushed fruit. Allow it to sit for three minutes.

    • 7). Pour the freezer jam into jars or airtight freezer containers. Allow the jam to sit for 24 hours in the refrigerator. Transfer the jam to the freezer until you are ready to use it. The jam will last for up to one year. The jam will last for up to three weeks in the refrigerator.
