Babies are such sweet blessings that complete a family and increase the bonding between parents. Obviously this is a moment of celebration, and no celebration is complete without gifts. Many people prefer to present homemade baby gifts to cherish and welcome the new angel. Homemade gifts are preferred over ready-made gifts from stores on the following grounds:

1. Cost effective: Homemade gifts are very cost effective and budget friendly. It is a fact that readymade baby gift sets are not only unnecessarily costly but also lacks quality and attraction.

2. Personalized touch: You can add your personalized touch in your homemade baby gift set, this will not just make the parents happy but they will also feel that you have put some thought and effort in getting them a gift, rather than buying from outside.

3. Additions are possible: Readymade gift sets are packed and additions cannot be made. However, if you are opting for homemade baby gift set, you can add as much things as you want and pack it the way you like.

Some Ideas for Homemade Baby Gifts:

Below are a few gift ideas that may help you with presenting a unique and useful gift to the happy family.

  • Gift and Congratulation cards:
Gift cards make an essential part of any gift of today. Make sure to make a nice card from cardboard paper, and write beautifully your thoughts and wishes to the baby and to the family. This looks better and is more unique than regular congratulation cards. To make it attractive, you can paste or draw picture of any teddy bear, cartoon, animals, flowers or of a baby. Try searching through some magazines for pictures and drawings to paste, or draw something yourself.

  • Gift basket: To present your gift beautifully, you can prepare a gift basket. Your basket may accommodate:
    a. A set of warm clothing, depending upon the gender of the baby. If it's a baby girl, you can get some soft girlish color like baby pink and for the male baby you can get a blue set of neonatal clothing.
    b. A lot of stuffed toys, but make sure they are not very small or fluffy as the risk of child suffocation increases with soft fluffy, small sized toys.
    c. A set of baby powder, shampoo and lotions.
    d. Diapers and wipes. These are always needed.

  • A gift from scratch:
You can sew or knit a sweater for the baby if you know how to and would enjoy it. Other gifts from scratch include: Sewing a quilt or a blanket. A hat or an outfit, is another cute idea. You could have the baby's name embroidered on your creation if him/her name has been decided on already.
Also, handmade stuffed or knit teddy bears are a sweet idea. You can find many stuffed animal and other types of patterns online. Or if you are craft enough yourself, make your own pattern.

Homemade baby gifts reflect your love, care and attention. They are often perceived as more special than most traditional gifts.
