How to Compress Images in GIMP
- 1). Click on "File" heading and choose "Open" from the file menu to load the image of your choice into GIMP.
- 2). Go back to the "File" heading and choose "Save as" from the file menu and the "Save Image" window will appear.
- 3). Click on the menu box located at the bottom right corner of the "Save Image" window. Choose the "JPEG Image," click on "Save," and select "Save as JPEG."
- 4). Increase the image's compression and decrease its quality and file size by dragging the "Quality" slider to the left. If you choose a higher quality, it will use less compression than lower quality settings and result in a bigger file size. When you are finished click on "Save" to compress your image.
