Using SEO to Dramatically Increase On Line Traffic

Have you dreamed oftyping in your keywords and seeing your website in the top position?Do you sometimes do a search and wonder how a small site can beat out the major contenders for the top spot?With a little knowledge and work, that site can be yours.
Search Engine Optimization should be your first task when you write a page or new post.
Before writing, research keywords for the page.
This will tell you what people are searching for, and therefore, what they want to read.
If you write what your readers want to know about, and optimize the page so they can find it, you will increase on line traffic to that page and your site.
Which keywords should you choose?Look for keywords that get enough searches to help your site, but which have little competition.
For instance, you will have better luck optimizing for a keyword that has 3000 competing sites, rather than one that has 1 million.
Also, do a search for the keyword andsee what the competition is.
Some high ranking competitors will be hard to beat, while a page that is not optimized at all should be easy to rank above.
If the first page of the search is full of well optimized pages, you can try to find another keyword phrase that will be easier to rank for.
Don't try to rank for a very general keyword such as "dog training", which at the time of this writing had approximately 1,320,000 competitors.
Instead choose a phrase such as "dog training tip" which had about 36,200 competitors, or even better "free dog training tip" which had only 689.
Of course, you need to make sure that the keyword phrase gets an ample number of searches,but if you optimize 10 pages with 10 such keyword phrases like this, you will cover many searches.
Don't stop at 10 however, this should be part of your strategy whenever possible for every page you write.
Once you have written these pages, link to them strategically using anchor text with the keyword phrase in the text.
In this way you will reinforce the value of the link and the page.
This is a little extra work.
When you are first building a site, there is a temptation to ignore SEO, with the idea that you will worry about that later.
But my experience is that pages that are not optimized get no traffic.
If the page gets no traffic, I should have saved myself the effort of building it, not the effort of SEO.
Do the research to find out what your readers want, then build and optimize those pages.
If your content is good and your pages are properly optimized, you will find more readers and ultimately more income.
