Design Good Advertisements for your Website

A massive amount of money has to be invested these days on advertising and marketing. Large firms are spending most of their money on ads. Effective ads are therefore vitally important to get the maximum advantage.

The first thing you should consider is a call to action and you need to find out how many
people are responding to your ad by using tracking techniques if you want to check how
successful your advertisement is. It is often a good strategy to offer an evaluation period
or product, or a demo or guide, something which people can easily request through mail so
that more and more people are attracted to your advertisement.

Your ad should have a focus. Is it for education or creating awareness in the reader? Should
it convince the reader?

AIDA is the term to remember for effective ad designing. AIDA stands for Awareness,
Interest, Desire, and Action.

Get the reader's attention: Most people do not spend much time reading an ad. Your
advertisement or the cover of your product image should be as enticing as possible. People
see so many ads these days. Your ad should be able to get the readers attention and make
them interested enough to take action. So, your ad should be able to grab their attention
for it to be effective. It should be visually appealing.

Create interest: Once you have their attention, you just need to pull them in. Is the ad
going to help solve a problem or need for the reader? Is the product or ad different from
others in the same category? Why should they buy your product?

Stimulate desire: This is the most vital thing. Now if they are interested, what is there in
your ad that is irresistible for them? How can your product or service solve a problem they
are having? Try offering a discount or a special offer or bonus

Call to action: The final step, you need to give them information on how can they purchase
your product or avail your services. This must be as easy and painless as possible. Tell
them to purchase the product now, if appropriate.

TIPS

Your headline should be cheesy, teaser, provocative and secretive. This increases the
chances of your advertisement being read.

Your ad should be on the main page of the website as most users do not scroll down to the
other pages.

You have to quickly get the reader's attention in a couple of seconds. If your ad takes time
to load, visitors won't wait for them to load. That is the reason why large banners are
ineffective.

Use provocative words like FREE. Ask them questions. These create interest.
Choose the best colors for your ad: The choice of colors depends upon the physiology of the
eye, readability, attractiveness, viewer's culture, companies logo and the need of the ad.

It is important that once the visitor responds your ad then delivers what it promised or
your reader will feel annoyed or irritated. If they don't get what they are looking or, they
won't buy your product.

Make sure your ad has enough white space. It attracts attention. Do not underestimate the
value of white space.
The photograph or the illustration should be large enough to grab attention.
Mention the brand name. If it is well known, the sales increase.
The logo should be easily identifiable and recognizable.
Use simple words and a conversational style of writing. You should try to communicate with
the reader.
