Cozumel Diving Trips

Cozumel is Mexico's largest island, located approximately 12 miles from the Yucatan Peninsula. The island is known for its diving because the water has high visibility and rich marine life. There are diving trips around Cozumel suitable for all levels of divers from novice to expert. The island attracts diving newcomers and veterans alike because of its 100- to 200-foot visibility. - Paradise Shallows is a dive trip located on the western coast of Cozumel and is suitable for novice divers. Many dive shops use this site as an area for those looking to obtain diver certification. Paradise Shallows is rich in coral and marine life, and divers can often catch a glimpse of crabs, lobster and octopus.
- Chankanaab Reef is a dive trip suitable for novice to intermediate divers. It is 30- to 50-feet deep and is located on the western coast of Cozumel. This site is home to a coral reef filled with nooks and crannies where marine life, such as stonefish and scorpion fish, like to hide. This trip is particularly good for night diving because of the abundance of lobster, crab and octopus.
- Yucab Reef is located on the western coast of Cozumel, is suitable for novice divers and is 45- to 60-feet deep. Colorful coral and sponges are abundant and draw large quantities of reef fish. Lucky divers also may run into grouper and barracuda who are known to drift in the current.
- Playa Bosh is located on the eastern coast of Cozumel; it's 20- to 50-feet deep and recommended for advanced divers. Divers on this dive trip can expect to find lots of coral variation and may even run into green moray eels and nurse sharks. This dive trip has high visibility and is great for photography.
- There is a wreck diving trip featuring an old C-53 minesweeper located on the eastern coast of Cozumel that is suitable for novice to intermediate divers and has a maximum depth of 80 feet. There is a marked route for divers to follow to explore the wreck and no special certification is needed for this trip.
