The Carnival Corporation operates the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, the only cruise terminal located in Long Beach, California. The Carnival Paradise departs from Long Beach for three-night (classified as three-day) itineraries to Mexico. The ship leaves Long Beach on Friday evening, arrives in Ensenada, Mexico, on Saturday morning, spends Sunday cruising at sea and returns to Long Beach on Monday morning. The Paradise will continue to depart for Mexico every Friday until December 2011, when Carnival's Inspiration is set to take over the route. - With 1,026 staterooms and 10 decks, the Paradise includes an adults-only serenity retreat, an area designed specifically for kids ages 12 to 14 and another for kids ages 15 to 17, three decks of twisting water slides, an Internet cafe, a mini golf course, a casino, numerous dining options, bars and lounges, shopping, an arcade and a full-service spa. Along with all that, you can also enjoy the fitness center, 24-hour room service, a multitude of shipboard activities, youth programs and onboard entertainment.
You'll spend Saturday in the popular Baja California resort town of Encenada, strolling on the waterfront promenade or visiting the fashionable shops and the winery of Bodega Santo Tomas, founded by the Dominicans in 1888. You can also observe the dramatic La Bufadora, a natural sea geyser located nearby. - The Carnival Inspiration, which will begin to host the three-day Mexican cruise in December 2001, also features 1,026 staterooms and 10 decks, along with an adults-only area, Camp Carnival for kids ages 2 to 11, Circle C for 12- to 14-year-olds and Club O2 for the 15- to 17-year-old set. Like the Paradise, the Inspiration includes a fitness center, 24-hour room service, numerous shipboard activities, youth programs and onboard entertainment.
- Although Carnival offers only one three-day cruise to Mexico, other types of Mexican cruises are also available from the Long Beach terminal, including 13 shore excursions to Ensenada. You can choose an excursion that includes attending a Mexican cooking class or one that features horseback riding. Or, take a tour to the La Bufadora geyser, go kayaking, enjoy the city-and-shopping tour or the jeep-adventure tour, make a beach-club getaway, visit the wine country or choose one of the many other excursion options.
- The cruise terminal is 23 miles from Los Angeles International Airport, approximately a 50-minute drive, depending on traffic conditions, and 12 miles from Long Beach Airport, a 20-minute drive. As of September 2010, parking is readily available and costs $15 per day.
