How to Get Rid of Cutter Ants
- 1). Pour boiling water on the ant hill. At least 3 gallons should fully saturate most colonies, since they can go down in the ground as deep as 6 to 8 feet.
- 2). Mix orange peels and water in a blender. The citrus peels act as a natural repellent for ants. Soak the mound with this concoction 1 to 2 times a day to get rid of the ants.
- 3). Sprinkle the ant hill with dried grits. The ants will grab the grits and eat them, which will swell up in their stomachs and kill them. Doing this can sometimes kill an entire colony of ants in just 1 to 3 days.
- 4). Drench the mound with a liquid insecticide if the natural remedies fail to work. Ant baits will not work for cutter ants, as they will not eat the poisonous chemicals.
