Last Minute Thank You Gifts
- Thanking someone often requires more than a note of gratitude. Even if you find yourself facing a time crunch, you still have many options to show your appreciation. Perhaps something handcrafted from the heart will fit the bill. If something more lavish is in order, you have many choices, from food and drink to a present tailored just for the recipient.
- For the budget-minded, bouquets purchased at the grocery store are often less expensive than those available at a florist and can be dressed up with ribbons or placed in a unique container that reflects the recipient's personality, job or interest. For example, to thank a friend for her hospitality, you might choose a container that reflects her decor. A small crock filled with sunflowers would be perfect in a country-style home. For a last-minute teacher gift, a low-maintenance houseplant, such as English ivy, might work well.
You might consider having a bouquet or arrangement sent through a local florist or online site (see Resources). They have a variety of bouquets, arrangements and houseplants to choose from in a range of prices, and most guarantee same-day delivery. - Someone who enjoys reading might enjoy a gift card from a local book store or an email gift certificate sent from a chain store. If your recipient is in need of some time for herself, arrange for some pampering at a spa. A sports-minded individual might enjoy free lift tickets or 18 holes of golf.
- A decorated jar filled with something you canned at home can make a nice gift. A piece of colorful material placed over the lid and secured with ribbon is a nice touch, as is adding a fancy label that identifies the contents. If your gift recipient has a sweet tooth, make him a batch of fudge or bake his favorite pie.
Another option is a gift basket. Food gift baskets are limited only by your pocketbook and imagination. Check out catalogs and online sites for a variety of options (see Resources).
