Biscornu
A biscornu is an eight-sided pincushion, assembled from two square pieces of needlework.
Biscornus are commonly worked in surface embroidery, blackwork, redwork, cross stitch, counted thread technques, hardanger or needlepoint.
Sizes can range from very small, worked as a scissor fob, ornament of small pincushion, up to very large, suitable for use as a small tuffet.
The odd shape is achieved by aligning the edge seams of one needlwork square with the center point of the second needlework square.
