How to Build a Bamboo Fountain With a Terracotta Pot
- 1). Place the fountain pump into the terracotta pot. Pull the electrical cord through the drainage hole in the terracotta pot and run it out to an electrical outlet to be plugged in later.
- 2). Seal up the drainage hole around the electrical cord with plumber's putty. This will keep the water in the pot and allow it to circulate through the fountain pump.
- 3). Attach the tubing that comes with the pump according to the pump's instructions manual.
- 4). Stack rocks around the pump and tube while keeping the tubing in the middle of the pot until you can no longer see the tubing. Let the mechanism for adjusting the fountain's spray levels show through the rocks so you can access it.
- 5). Plant individual bamboo stalks in the rocks. Place more river rocks around the stems until they are secure and cannot be knocked over by wind or animals. Bamboo plants do not need soil to grow; they will grow in the water as long as they have sufficient nutrients.
- 6). Fill the pot with water. Check the fountain's instruction manual to add the correct amount of water.
- 7). Plug in the pump's electrical cord. Turn on the pump and adjust the spray mechanism until you achieve the desired flow of water.
- 8). Cover the spray mechanism with river rocks.
