How to Fit a Butyl Pond Liner
- 1). Dig your pond according to your needs and wishes. Once you've finished digging, take a large piece of butyl pond liner and set it over the pond opening.
- 2). Spread the pond liner out all over the pond area. Press the liner down into any depressions or low spots, using small rocks or pebbles to hold it in place if necessary.
- 3). Fill the pond with water slowly. As the water level rises, it may further displace some of the liner, so you want to do this before trimming any excess liner.
- 4). Lay your landscaping stones around the edge of the pond once the liner has been completely conformed to the shape of the pond bottom. You'll have quite a bit of liner that extends beyond the edge of the pond.
- 5). Take a sharp knife and trim the excess butyl pond liner back to the landscaping stones. Mulch, lay topsoil and grass seed, or plant flowers according to taste.
