- 1). Shut down the motor and tilt the motor up to raise the propeller hub from the water. Lift the cowling from the top of the outboard motor and disconnect the spark plug wire(s) from the spark plug(s) to avoid propeller-related accidents.
- 2). Turn the adjustment ring on the back of the hub clockwise to increase the pitch of the propeller. Tilt the motor back down.
- 3). Reconnect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs and replace the cowling over the motor.
