Nassau is a perfect place to bring the family.
Whether you are arriving by cruise ship or by plane Nassau is a safe and tourist friendly country that is sure to give you and your family the time of their lives.
Nassau has tropical weather all year round, and at nearly any point you can find something that you and the kids will enjoy.
Here are a few suggestions that will help you decide how to spend your next family vacation.
  1. Play On The Beach - Nassau is well known for its amazing beaches and beach weather.
    Your kids will have an amazing time playing in the gorgeous white sand and swimming in the warm turquoise water that The Bahamas is known for.
    Most beaches have people who will walk around and braid hair, paint faces, and bring you drinks for a small fee.
    Some of the more popular beaches are Cable Beach (the hotel district of Nassau), Paradise Beach, and Cabbage Beach (just a short drive from where the cruise ship docks).
  2. Visit The Atlantis Aquarium - The Atlantis Resort is full of kid friendly activities and one of the most notable things to do is visit the Aquarium.
    The Atlantis Aquarium has thousands of tropical fish and sharks that most kids would go crazy over.
    It is generally between 20 and 50 dollars per person to visit but if you go after 6:00 admission is free.
  3. Go To Blue Lagoon Island - Take a boat trip to Blue Lagoon Island which is located just north east of Paradise Island.
    This resort has plenty of things for kids young and old to do and has relaxing hammocks for the adults to hang out in while the kids play.
    In addition the island has a dolphin interaction program so your kids can swim with the dolphins!
  4. Visit The Ardastra Gardens Zoo - This zoo is well known and is only a short 5 minute walk from downtown Nassau.
    It features over 300 well known and endangered Caribbean animals.
    The zoo is most known for the incredible amount of flamingos (the Bahamas national bird) that it carries.
  5. Go To The Pirates Of Nassau Museum - Nassau used to be in control of pirates including the most famous Captain Black Beard.
    Learn all about how the pirates controlled this island and see some authentic pirate gear in this one of a kind museum.
  6. Go Fishing, Snorkeling, Or On A Boat Tour - The Bahamas has some of the best fishing and snorkeling in the world.
    With reefs that hold tons of exotic fish you can have a one of a kind fishing experience with the whole family.
    Most fishing excursions also let you snorkel in some of the nearby reefs and let you see some islands that are owned by celebrities.
  7. Swim At The Atlantis Water Park - The Atlantis water park is ENORMOUS with a lazy river that is over a mile long, at least 5 outdoor water slides, and dozens of pools and hot tubs the water park at the Atlantis is an incredible experience.
    Non guests are allowed in depending on how crowded the park is and tickets are expensive (usually 100 dollars per person over 4 feet).
  8. Eat At The Fish Fry - The Fish Fry is a local hot spot.
    It is basically dozens of local restaurants put together on Arawak Cay.
    It is a good place to get a quick bite to eat and experience local culture.
    It can get extremely busy during the night and weekends with locals but during the day it is generally very calm and is a great place to eat.
  9. Go To Black Beards Cay - This is another relaxing island in the middle of nowhere.
    You can bring your family to play on the beach and enjoy the relaxation the island brings.
    This island offer a stingray adventure where you can swim and interact with stingrays.
  10. Travel On A Segway Tour - Take a Segway tour around the island! This usually takes a couple hours but you get to travel around the island in your own Segway.
    The instructor will teach you how to use it then you travel to certain spots on the island for a tour day.
